I am a storyteller to the bone, a restless wanderer, perpetually curious and unapologetically passionate. I am a Third Culture Kid - American by birth, Egyptian by blood, Saudi by upbringing - and I believe that it is this background, this feeling of being at home everywhere and nowhere, that drives my passion for people, cultures, and stories of all stripes. My academic background is in political science and Middle Eastern Studies, but my heart is in creative nonfiction and narrative journalism. As a writer and editor for Muftah Magazine, I look for the personal stories behind the politics - the untold, grassroots, human angle. I am passionate about alternative methods of political expression, activism, and social change through storytelling, humor, and the arts. My previous experiences include internships in broadcast and radio journalism, research, translation, teaching, and non-profit work.
