Internationally acclaimed Stan’s Cafe was formed in 1991 and has been devising and touring original work from their Birmingham base ever since. The theatre company is made up of a core group and an ever-evolving team of long-term collaborators and associate artists from various disciplines. Stan’s Cafe uses theatre to boldly address timeless and contemporary themes. Its consistently eclectic performances extend beyond theatres into site-specific and installation works. Most recently, they have made shows about black police officers, gospel music, world rivers, the budget of their local city council and have created a 24-hour performance at the top of a tower block. Stan’s Cafe are regularly invited to perform at venues around the world.
