Of All The People In All The World uses grains of rice to powerfully bring abstract statistics to life. Throughout the performance, a team on stage carefully weighs out quantities of rice to symbolise various human statistics, arranging them into labelled piles that form a dynamic and evolving landscape. With each grain of rice representing an individual, audience members are invited to reflect on how the single grain that represents them, compares to the millions that do not. The statistics and their juxtapositions are moving, shocking, celebratory, witty and thought provoking. Of All The People In All The World adapts to where it is presented and responds to the interests and suggestions of its audiences.
The statistics presented will encompass a range of local and global themes as well as moments from the distant past, recent events and current affairs. The performance will include statistics that illustrate the tragic things human beings are capable of, while also highlighting incredible achievements and moments when people come together for a common cause. Of All The People In All The World has been touring all over the world since 2003 and will make its Arab world premiere at the Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF).
“من بين جميع الناس في جميع أنحاء العالم” عرض يستخدم كميات من حبوب الأرز لينقل لنا تجربة إحصائية مجردة عن الحياة.
خلال هذا العرض، سيقف فريق على المسرح، ليزن بحرص كميات من الأرز، في رمزية واضحة للإحصاءات الإنسانية. سيرتبون هذه الكميات ويصنفونها في أكوام تتشكل منها مساحة لتطور الأفكار.
تتمثل مع كل حبة رز صورة فرد في العالم. والجماهير الحاضرة مدعوة لتفكر في كل حبة، وكيف يمكن لها أن تمثلهم وتعبر عنهم. وربما يقارن الجمهور هذه الحبة مع ملايين الحبوب التي لا تمثلهم.
الإحصاءات وتبايناتها قد تكون صادمة ومثيرة للتفكير.
عرض ” من بين جميع الناس في جميع أنحاء العالم” يتكيف مع ما يحدث على المسرح من اقتراحات واستجابات الجمهور.
الإحصاءات المقدمة في العرض يتماس مع عدد من الثيمات المحلية والعالمية، ويحيلنا للحظات من الماضي والحاضر والشأن المعاصر.
سوف يتضمن العرض إحصاءات توضح أشياء مأساوية يمكن للبشر فعلها، وكذلك بعض الإنجازات واللحظات الملهمة التي تشارك فيها البشر دفاعـًا عن قضية مشتركة.
عرض “من بين جميع الناس في جميع أنحاء العالم” يتجول في دول مختلفة منذ عام ٢٠٠٣، وسيكون هذا العرض الأول في العالم العربي ضمن فعاليات مهرجان دي-كاف.
