A mother dies tragically, in a far-off country beset by violence and madness. Several years later, her son decides to set a meeting with her, beyond death, to confess to her all that he never dared to tell her or never knew how. Over the course of this love song, the son retraces the tumult of a forty-year relationship. Buried images of the mother resurface, fade into each other and overlap with snapshots of continents, countries and cities. They dissolve themselves into the cataclysm of the native land. Can we, with the impalpable weapons of poetry, stitch back together reality? Can we, in the dread of this world, still invent mythologies and through them, attempt to remain steadfast in the face of disaster and shed light on the chaos? Such is the fragile and daring challenge of Face à la mère.
تموت أم بشكل مأساوي في بلد بعيد يعصف به العنف والجنون. بعد عدة سنوات، يقرر ابنها أن يرتب لقاءً معها، ما بعد الموت، ليعترف لها بكل ما لم يجرؤ على أن يخبرها به أو لم يعرف أبدًا كيف. خلال أغنية الحب هذه، يسترجع الابن التقلبات التي ألمّت بعلاقة دامت 40 عامًا. تظهر صور الأم المدفونة وتتلاشى في بعضها البعض وتتداخل مع لقطات من قارات وبلدان ومدن. ثم تذوب في فوضى الأرض الأصلية. هل يمكننا، بأسلحة الشعر التي لا يمكن إدراكها، أن نعيد تجميع الواقع؟ هل يمكننا، في ظل رهبة هذا العالم، أن نواصل اختراع الأساطير ونحاول من خلالها أن نصمد في وجه الكارثة ونسلط الضوء على الفوضى؟ هذا هو التحدي الهش والجريء في عرض “في مواجهة الأم”.
