Mounir Saeed

Born in 1987, Mounir Saeed lives and works in Cairo. Saeed was a professional football player for six years before he chose to dedicate himself fully to dance. To this end, he undertook training for three years at the Cairo Contemporary Dance Workshop Program. In 2009, he was awarded the Prize of Excellence from the Cairo Opera House for his first solo performance, The Game. Between 2016 and 2019, Saeed toured Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Dubai, Morocco, the United States and Spain with his solo piece What About Dante, which won the third prize at the International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart. Throughout his artistic career, he has also served as a dance teacher at the National Dance and Music Academy and Rome; and received a nine month artistic fellowship at Akademie Schloss Solitude. In 2021, Saeed participated in the Venice Biennale, where he presented two solo pieces and a group performance.
