Nancy Mounir

Nancy Mounir is a versatile composer, sound artist, and multi-instrumentalist. She plays a range of Western and traditional instruments, including violin, piano, bass, theremin, and others. Her original music has featured in theatre productions, films, and art installations. Mounir was initially drawn to microtonal music as a response to  the linearity and conformity she perceived in modern Egyptian music. Her debut album Nozhet El Nofous (2022) weaves together her own compositions with restored recordings of Egyptian singers from the 1920s.
