Double Dance Bill: The Fallen

The Fallen follows the story of the last fairy of Ireland, who was captured by a Catholic king and hung to death for his own amusement.

Tasked with the revival of the old pagan Irish ways, the new king tears the wings from the fairy’s back and buries him on the Hill of Tara—the old crowning place of kings and queens. From his grave later grows the first fairy tree of Ireland.

This solo is a journey of Irish cultural experimentation. It takes a feeling of grief and transforms it into folklore. It blends modern and traditional music to create a movement solo enriched with physical storytelling.

This physical solo was created during Michael’s time as an incubate artist with TinderBox Theatre Company. It premiered in April 2025 as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival.

Trigger warning: A noose is used as a prop during the performance.
