The D-CAF Festival has historically presented performances in public spaces until the late 2010s, when increasing difficulties made it no longer feasible. Public space, however, remains a vital setting to bring art into everyday life and society.
As part of the Arab Arts Focus, the festival is hosting a laboratory open to Egyptian and Mediterranean artists, aimed at exploring the possibilities of art in public space.
Two artists will guide the laboratory: Gabriella Cserhati (Hungary) and Iacopo Fulgi (Italy), both based in France and active in public space creation for over fifteen years. The week of research will focus on two key questions: Should the performance disappear to exist in public space? Or should it be the audience that disappears?
