This workshop aims to explore cultural projects and methods capable of building social connections and highlight interdependencies between research, creation, production, and audience experience. Participants will be introduced to various research-theatre creation methods developed by Ishyo Arts Centre and its partners in Rwanda. These include field research, script development, stage creation, presentation of tailor-made performances—ranging from intimate home-based shows to large-scale participatory formats inspired by encounters and interviews with local communities.
The workshop is intended for professional theatre artists (writers, actors, and directors) with a minimum of three to five years of proven experience in theatre-making.
This workshop is part of the Cairo-Kigali Express project, a collaboration between Orient Productions and Ishyo Arts Centre. The project is supported by AFAC’s North Africa Cultural Program through a grant from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
