Basma Osama

Basma Osama is a graduate of the Institut des Métiers d’Art du Cégep du Vieux Montréal (2003), currently based in Montreal. She founded her studio Ceramik B. in 2006—a space dedicated to the design and production of functional and decorative ceramic objects. Deeply in love with clay and the craft itself, Osama is drawn to simple and inviting forms—silhouettes, lines, textures, and curves, which enchant her with their naturalness and ease. Having lived in Canada for 3 decades, and having learned ceramics from local potters and through Canadian approaches to the craft, her work explores a dialogue between memories of an Egyptian past and a contemporary Canadian reality. She seeks to capture and reinterpret visual fragments inspired by architecture, motifs, and natural landscapes that shape Egyptian cultural identity, while also working within a minimalist aesthetic.
