Omar Ghayatt
Egyptian theatre maker Omar Ghayatt has worked in the performing arts since 1996. After earning his BA in Arts and Education, he went on to receive the first state prize ever awarded in Egypt for performance art; before touring various countries and festivals including Theaterspektakel Zurich, La Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille, the Festival D’Avignon, and D-CAF. Ghayatt’s works include Made in Paradise (2008), If I Weren’t Egyptian (2011), Violence Lointaine (2015), Divine Museum (2019) and Les Passagers, which was shown at the 2022 Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater, where it won the Jury Prize.
