Sarah Gabr

Sarah Gabr is a Cairo-based artist and dancer whose adventurous spirit and distinctive voice shape her evolving presence in contemporary dance. A light-spirited yet deeply driven character, she approaches movement as both an artistic expression and a journey of discovery.

Sarah began her ballet training at the age of seven, and her devotion to art and dance has grown with her ever since. A graduate of the Higher Institute of Ballet (2006), she was a dancer in the Cairo Opera Ballet Company (2006–2008) and later joined the Egyptian Modern Dance Theater (2008–2010).

In 2017, she received a scholarship from Maqamat Dance Theater to join the Takween Intensive Dance Training Program in Lebanon, an experience that expanded her creative horizons. She later participated in the Bipod Festival (2018) as a choreographer, presenting her outdoor performance Rebound at the Sursock Museum in Beirut. That same year, she performed her solo piece It’s Not About Me at the Contemporary Dance Night Festival.

Sarah’s collaborative spirit has led her to work across disciplines. In 2019, she co-created Qalby—a live music and dance performance—with choreographer Sherien Hegazy and musician/director Sabrine El Hossamy, produced by AFAC. Most recently, in 2023, she performed in The Tunic Serum by Douaa Fatfat, also produced by AFAC.

Curious, bold, and constantly evolving, Sarah embraces every challenge as an opportunity to grow. Her work reflects her passion for exploration—blending movement, experimentation, and emotional depth to create art that resonates.  

سارة جبر فنانة وراقصة مقيمة في القاهرة، تتميز بروحها المغامرة وصوتها المتفرد الذي يشكّل حضورها  المتطور في مشهد الرقص المعاصر. بشخصيتها الخفيفة الروح والمدفوعة بشغف عميق، تنظر إلى الحركة باعتبارها تعبيراً فنياً ورحلة لاكتشاف الذات.

بدأت سارة تدريبها في الباليه في سن السابعة، ونما شغفها بالفن والرقص معها منذ ذلك الحين. تخرجت من المعهد العالي للباليه عام2006، وكانت راقصه في فرقة باليه دار الأوبرا المصرية (2006–2008)، ثم انضمت لاحقاً إلى فرقة الرقص المسرحي الحديث المصرية (2008–2010).

في عام 2017، حصلت على منحة من مسرح مقامات للانضمام إلى برنامج تكوين المكثف للتدريب على الرقص في لبنان، وهيتجربة وسّعت آفاقها الإبداعية. شاركت لاحقاً في مهرجان بيبود (2018) كمصممة راقصات ، وقدمت عرضها الراقص ارتداد في متحف سرسق ببيروت. وفي العام نفسه، أدت عرضها الفردي الأمر ليس عني في مهرجان ليلة رقص معاصر فيالقاهرة.

قادها شغفها بالتعاون الفني إلى العمل عبر مختلف التخصصات. ففي عام 2019، شاركت في ابتكار عرض قلبي—وهو عرض يجمع بينالموسيقى الحية والرقص—بالتعاون مع مصممة الرقص شيرين حجازي والموسيقية/المخرجة صابرين الحسامي، ومن إنتاج آفاق. ومؤخراً، في عام 2023، أدت دوراً في عرض مصل التونيك للمصممة دعاء فتفت، وهو أيضاً من إنتاج آفاق.

بفضولها وجرأتها وتطورها المستمر، تتعامل سارة مع كل تحدٍ كفرصة للنمو. أعمالها تعكس شغفها الاستكشاف ، حيث تمزج بين الحركه والتجريب والعمق العاطفي لخلق فن يلامس الوجدان.
