The Documentary Comics Workshop, led by artist Mai Koraiem in collaboration with Mazg, offers a hands-on exploration of D-CAF through drawing and visual documentation. Over the course of one day, participants will move through festival spaces capturing moments, events, and encounters through live sketching. They will observe the details of each place, the movement of the audiences, and their fleeting impressions, which they will then transform into visual stories.
* The selected participants will be asked to bring their preferred drawing materials, which must include a small sketchbook for notes and quick sketches throughout the experience.
Workshop Goals:
The workshop will introduce participants to quick sketching techniques and how to document scenes and capture characters. From quick portraits of visitors and guests to depicting the atmosphere of the exhibitions and performances, the participants will learn how to transform everyday moments into lively comic pages.
This workshop is an invitation to explore comics as a tool for observation and documentation
Workshop Criteria:
Participants must be established illustrators or comic artists. Some experience in or knowledge of visual storytelling is a bonus.
