Mohamed Abouzeid

Mohamed Abouzeid grew up in Tunis village in Fayoum, Egypt, a place world renowned for its ceramics community and natural beauty. He learned the craft from his father, renowned potter Ahmed Abouzeid, from a young age, and later developed his own unique style, blending traditional Egyptian techniques with influences from Japanese ceramics. His practice combines his interests in Egyptian ceramic heritage, using locally sourced materials–like earthenware clay from Aswan or copper oxides from the Eastern Desert–with traditional techniques from around the world. Driven by experimentation and a passion to let materials guide the process, his work reflects Egypt’s diverse natural environment.
