Caroline Hatem is a theatre director, actor and choreographer. She holds a Masters in Philosophy and specialised in dance and theatre in the United States of America, France and Lebanon. Her directorial debut in theatre was AL BEYT, a play by Arzé Khodr for which she was awarded Best actresses and Best Script at the Lebanese National Theatre Festival in 2018. AL ZIFAF, an adaptation of Brecht’s A Respectable Wedding, represented Germany at the European Theatre Festival in Beirut 2019, a few days before the uprising. In 2022, she adapted LES JUSTES by Albert Camus, the story of a revolutionary group that plans the assassination of a criminal leader, a work that toured throughout Lebanon. Caroline is the co-founder and artistic director of the YAZAN theatre company and association for cultural production, capacity building and networking in the field of film, visual and performing arts.
كارولين حاتم مخرجة مسرحية وممثلة ومصممة رقصات. حصلت حاتم على ماجستير في الفلسفة وتخصصت في الرقص والمسرح في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وفرنسا ولبنان. كانت مسرحية “البيت” باكورة أعمالها الإخراجية في المسرح، وهي مسرحية لأرزيه خضر نالت عنها جائزة أفضل ممثلة وأفضل نص في المهرجان الوطني للمسرح اللبناني في 2018. كما مثّلت مسرحيتها “الزفاف”، المقتبسة عن مسرحية “عرس محترم” للكاتب المسرحي بيرتولت بريخت، ألمانيا في مهرجان المسرح الأوروبي في بيروت خلال 2019، قبل أيام قليلة من الانتفاضة. في 2022، اقتبست حاتم مسرحية “العادلون” لألبير كامو التي تحكي قصة مجموعة ثورية تخطط لاغتيال زعيم مجرم، وهو عمل مسرحي طاف في أنحاء لبنان. حاتم هي المؤسس المشارك والمدير الفني لفرقة وجمعية “يزن” المسرحية للإنتاج الثقافي وبناء القدرات وتكوين شبكات العلاقات في مجالات السينما والفنون البصرية والأدائية.
