Syrian writer and director. He has lived and worked in France since 2007.
Graduated from the Higher Institute of Performing Arts in Damascus in 2004, and from Lyon 2 Lumière University in Performing Arts in 2009. He wrote and directed his first play “je ne m’en suviens plus” in 2014. It will be followed by “titre provisoire” in 2016 and “Sous un ciel bas” in 2019 forming a trilogy on theater and war. These shows have been presented in several theaters and festivals in the Arab world and Europe.
Among these works are “Simple Formalité” in 2020, and “Pianola”, presented for the first time in Tunis in 2022. “La maison de Swift” (Swift’s House), a workshop-performance based on research carried out in collaboration with Simon Dubois as part of the DREAM project, is currently being created.
وائل علي كاتب ومخرج مسرحي سوري يعمل في فرنسا منذ ٢٠٠٧. وقد تخرج في المعهد العالي للفنون المسرحية بدمشق منذ ٢٠٠٤، واستكمل دراسته في جامعة لوميير بليون سنة ٢٠٠٩. وقد كتب مسرحيته “ما عم أتذكر” سنة ٢٠١٤، وتبعها بمسرحية “عنوان مؤقت” سنة ٢٠١٦، ثم مسرحية “تحت سماء واطئة” سنة ٢٠١٩ وشكلت هذه المسرحيات ثلاثية عن المسرح والحرب.
ومؤخرًا، قدم أعماله بيانولا وSimple Formalité في تونس.
ويعمل حاليـًا على La Maison de Swift، وهي ورشة أدائية ترتكز على بحث قام به وائل بالتعاون مع سيمون دوبوا ضمن مشروع “حلم”.
